Susan Salter Reynolds shares My Last Movie Star, a novel by Martha Sherrill, in her LAT book column today. The backdrop is Southern California and the supporting cast features Hollywood’s glamorous stars (Dorothy Lamour, Gloria Swanson, Loretta Young, Marion Davies, Tallulah Bankhead, Myrna Loy, and Natalie Wood) appearing as angels. “Martha Sherrill, a former staff writer for the Washington Post, knows whereof she writes, and has done a great deal of research on the lives of these women.
