Los Angeles Times reporter Joe Mathews has sold The People’s Machine: Governor Schwarzenegger and the Rise of Blockbuster Democracy, to Public Affairs, according to Publisher’s Lunch (subscription required). The book reportedly will describe the roots of movie populism and political populism, and how “authentic populist” Schwarzenegger used both to win and to govern. The People’s Machine won’t be published until winter 2006.
