Barbara Cole, owner of John Cole’s Book Shop

in La Jolla, recently died of congestive heart failure. She was 91. “A famous landmark has left the scene,” says Audrey Geisel, widow of children’s author Ted Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. “One of the things that went on between Barbara and Ted is she would send books up in boxes and he would sign them. She was incredibly funny, always smiling. She never seemed to be moving rapidly, just always was total serenity with sunshine.” Read more in the La Jolla Light.
