Authors who blog

Novelist and book marketer MJ Rose is “testing out” a new lit blog, Buzz, Balls & Hype, for PublishersMarketplace. Today she talks about authors and online journals.

Not every novelist has a blog because most of us are busy writing and blogging is yet more writing and there’s simply a limit to how much we can move our fingers in one day.

More importantly, we’ve probably (hopefully) put our most interesting thoughts and ideas and our best words into our manuscripts. One thing that leaves us with are diary like thoughts about our writing or families or hobbies.

Which begs the question of whether readers want to read our meanderings? And even if they think they do are we serving our fiction well by posting snippets of our life?
