Socal book awards

Here’s the list of finalists for the Southern California Booksellers Association annual book awards, which will be handed out November 6:

In fiction: Jamesland by Michelle Huneven; Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin; King of Foxes by Raymond E. Feist; The Life and Adventures of Lyle Clemens by John Rechy; and Signal Hill by Alan Rifkin.

In mysteries: Last Lullaby by Denise Hamilton; Earthquake Weather by Terrill Lee Lankford; Dirty Laundry by Paula Woods; Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear; and While I Disappear by Edward Wright.

In nonfiction: The King of California by Mark Arax and Rick Wartzman; The Huntington Library, Art Galleries and Botanical Gardens by Peggy Park Bernal; Nudie: The Rodeo Tailor by Jamie Lee Nudie and Mary Lynn Cabral; Homicide Special by Miles Corwin; and True Notebooks by Mark Saltzman.

In children’s books: Wasteland by Francesa Lia Block; Up! Up! Up! It’s Apple Picking Time by Jody Fickes Shapiro; The Golden Hour by Maiya Williams; Escaping Tornado Season by Julie Williams; and Dragon: Hound of Honor by Julie Andrews Edwards and Emma Walton Hamilton.
