From the department of totally ridiculous

The LA Times Op-ed section had a feature this weekend — “An experimental column in which the Los Angeles Times invites outside critics to take their best shot at Southern California’s heaviest newspaper” — in which Slate blogger Mickey Kaus rags on the Times for not emulating Rupert Murdoch’s worst tabloid impulses. Having critics write about the newspaper on its own pages is a bold move. But why invite Kaus to lament the dearth of page one stories about beheadings and Michael Jackson saliva swabs?
