Book bling

Today Paddy and Scott of Angel City Press turned up with a surprise for Barbara George of the California Arts Council: another $20,000 from sales of My California: Journeys by Great Writers.

That brings the total to $43,000!

That’s $43,000 that will go toward writing programs for children in California.

That’s $43,000 and counting: My California is headed for a third printing!

My California is a collection of narrative travel and adventure stories by twenty-seven of California’s finest writers. All of the contributors — the writers, publisher, editor, designer, cover artist, publicists, and sales rep — donated their work so that all publishing proceeds could benefit California’s embattled arts council.

It’s a great deed. And, best of all, a great read.

And mark your calendar for the next My California event: On June 12, authors Edward Humes, David Kipen and D.J. Waldie are on the California panel at the El Segundo Author Fair hosted by the El Segundo library.
