Digitize Me?

UC Irvine holds a public conference Thursday and Friday that takes up this important question: Is there a future for books? OC Register writer Gary Robbins explains, “The meeting’s specific title is Text and Image: From Book History to ‘The Book is History.’ And some heavy hitters are on the schedule. They include Daniel J. Clancy, who is engineering Google’s Book Research Project, and Mark Dimunation, director of the Rare Books and Special Collections section of the Library of Congress.”
