CaliforniaAuthors - News and notes from America’s largest book market
October 12, 2008

They’re California authors, too.

They’re not famous for it, but they are famous, and they’ve got books out this month.

Speaker of the US House of Representatives California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi will celebrate the launch of her book Know Your Power: A Message to America’s Daughters with three TV appearances on Monday (NBC’s “Today,” ABC’s “The View” and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”). The book offers encouragement for women from the first woman Speaker. Read an excerpt at this bookstore page. Written with Amy Hill Hearth. Learn about more Pelosi events at booktour.com.

With almost 60 years in Hollywood and a career that’s still going (he was nominated for a Golden Globe last year at 90), Academy Award winner Ernest Borgnine has his own Hollywood history to tell. His new memoir, Ernie: the Autobiography promises never-been-told tinsel town tales, including stories about his experience with many classic film stars. On July 29, Borgnine will be signing books at Borders in West Hollywood. Visit his booktour.com page for more info on this and other Ernie events.

Actress Adrienne Barbeau turns novelist, teaming with Irish author Michael Scott (The Alchemist) to write Vampyres of Hollywood — in which “secret vampires in the film industry have concocted vampire myths and disseminated them through horror movies to mislead superstitious humans.” Barbeau’s memoir, There Are Worse Things I Could Do, was published in 2007. This weekend she’s at Comic-Con in San Diego — but if you didn’t preregister, you’re out of luck! See her booktour page for a big slate of appearances.
