CaliforniaAuthors.com is an independent online publication dedicated to the proposition that California’s often fragmented literary scene, its authors, publishers, booksellers and readers, deserve a voice of their own.



Our team

Donna Wares, Editor — Donna is founder of Paper Tigers — a network of top editors, writers and designers with extensive journalism and publishing experience — where her work includes book editing and writing. The former National Weekend Editor at the Los Angeles Times, Donna also worked at the Miami Herald and the Orange County Register, and she teaches at California State University, Long Beach. As a reporter, she won a series of national awards for investigating corruption and drug trafficking at the nation’s largest women’s prison.

Kate Cohen, Creative Director — An artist, veteran designer and writer, Kate has been creating interactive products and publications for 14 years. In ten years as partner and creative director of Omnivore — a multimedia design and consulting studio — Kate managed and designed large-scale projects for clients such as Time Warner Interactive Group, Virgin Sound and Vision, The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Convention and Visitor's Bureau, E-tech and MediaVision. In 2000, she opened Kate Cohen Fine and Applied Arts, a boutique design firm specializing in the complete production of beautifully crafted smaller-scale web sites, as well as the sale of her oil paintings and sculpture. www.katecohen.com.
